PORT ELIZABETH - NMB MUNICIPALITY TO SHUT DOWN WATER IN GREENACRES AREA

A 450 mm water-main in Cape Road was damaged by a contractor excavating opposite the Greenacres Hospital. The damaged water-main is interconnected to another 450 mm water-main. Due to this interconnectivity, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality will be forced to shut down water distribution in both water-mains so that it can repair the damaged water-main.

Water supply to the affected areas will be off from 16:00 / 4pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. The shutting of the valves takes about an hour and the contractor will start cutting the pipe at 18:00 / 6pm once peak traffic has subsided.

Technicians will carry out the repair work as fast as they can without compromising the quality of the repairs, to minimise any inconvenience that may be caused.

The following areas will be affected:

Roos Street, Schauderville, Adcockvale, Perridgevale, Greenacres, Parsons Hill, Millard Grange, Westview, Glen Hurd, Linkside, Scotsoun, Hallack Road, St Georges Park, including Jutland and Craig Bain Streets, Mill Park, Newton Park, Central, Richmond Hill, Cotswold and Fernglen.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the interruption in water supply to the affected areas.

Issued by Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Communications Office.
