PORT ELIZABETH - MOTHERWELL SHOP OWNER MERCILESSLY GUNNED DOWN IN SUSPECTED HIJACKING

A shop owner was shot dead outside his Motherwell spaza shop in a suspected hijacking yesterday.

Ethiopian Tesfaye Cheche Tuloro, 38, was shot at about midday when a group of men took his car shortly after he parked at his shop.

“Three men, one with a firearm, climbed out of a bakkie that had just pulled up behind him and [Tuloro] was shot in the abdomen,” police spokesman Constable Mncedi Mbombo said.

“[Tuloro] was busy taking some groceries out of his car,” he said.

Mbombo said it was thought to have been a botched hijacking.

“The men sped off in his VW Polo, which was found abandoned an hour later on the road to Addo.”

“It is unclear at this stage if the men were waiting near the shop for him, or if they had followed him,” Mbombo said.
