The Port Alfred Regional Court yesterday sentenced Nosibusiso Busi Mangi aged 24 of Ndlovini Township in Bathurst to 8 years Imprisonment for Culpable homicide and 3 years suspended sentence for 5 years for attempted murder. She was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
On the 11th November 2018, @02:00 the deceased, 25-year-old Sivuyile Kiki Lukwe of Thembisa in Bathurst and his girlfriend( accused) was asleep in his room when his ex-girlfriend came to fetch some of her personal belongings.
An argument ensued between the couple and the accused who was armed with a knife stabbed the deceased several times. She thereafter stabbed the ex-girlfriend several times and fled the scene. The deceased died at the scene whilst the ex-girlfriend was taken to a local hospital and thereafter transferred to a hospital in Port Elizabeth as her condition was critical. She was later discharged.
Shortly after the incident the accused was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder.
During the trial the charge of murder was changed to Culpable Homicide.
