PORT ELIZABETH - MAN CONVICTED IN 2015 CASE OF MURDERED NMU STUDENT

A 20-year old man has been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment in the Port Elizabeth regional court for aggravated robbery.

Police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu says Zolile Mfeketho was arrested in September 2016  for the murder of 19-year old NMU student, Asadullah Ajimudin

She says he was clubbed to death with a cricket bat at his Summerstrand residence in August 2015.

He was sleeping when the intruders entered.

Naidu says no one else was arrested.

She says he was found guilty on Monday for aggravated robbery, but not for murder and housebreaking.

Col Naidu says Mfeketho confessed to the robbery, but denied murdering the student.

Entrance to the residence was gained through an unlocked door.
