PORT ELIZABETH - MAN STABBED IN THE FACE AT ST ALBANS SMALLHOLDING DURING FARM ATTACK

Kabega Park Detectives in Port Elizabeth are searching for three suspects who attacked a couple at their home on a small holding on Old Cape Road, St Albans.

Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the 55 year-old man and his 53 year-old wife are believed to have fallen asleep in the living room with doors to the home still open.

At around 01h00 on Monday,  the complainant was woken by a knife-wielding intruder who stabbed him in the face in an ensuing struggle.

A second suspect then approached the man and threatened him with a firearm.

His wife tried to escape by running to the bedroom but the suspects caught her and they were both tied up.

Captain Janse van Rensburg says the suspects demanded money and the keys to the safe from which they took two firearms and ammunition.

There were three balaclava-clad suspects in total and they then proceeded to ransack the house, taking four laptops,  3 cellphones, jewellery and cash.

The couple eventually managed to free themselves and raise the alarm.  The complainant was later taken to hospital to be treated for the stab wound he sustained.
