Detectives from the South African Police Service in Despatch are searching for a gunman who fatally wounded a 42-year-old man last night, Friday, 19 April 2019 at about 20:00. It is alleged that the victim, who was at his residence in Butise Street, Khayamnandi, Despatch when someone knocked on his front door. The victim opened the door and stepped outside. A few minutes later multiple shots could be heard and the 42-year-old man was found lying on the ground.
The suspect fled from the scene in an unknown vehicle. Police were called to the scene and they are investigating a case of murder. The motive for the murder is not yet known. The name of the victim will be released after formal identification was completed by his next-of-kin.
