PORT ELIZABETH - MAN PULLED OVER AND ARRESTED WITH KHAT ON DURBAN ROAD


A 41-year-old foreign national will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates on Thursday after he was arrested for transporting Khat.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says flying squad members followed up on information about a white Suzuki possibly transporting the plants from Johannesburg.

The vehicle was spotted travelling on the N2 towards Standford Road and was stopped by police when it turned into Durban road.

Naidu says upon searching the vehicle they found a box containing 140 bundles of Khat with a street value of R12 600.

The suspect could also not provide the necessary documentation for being in the country.

He will be charged with the illegal possession of drugs and being in the country illegally.
