The acting Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ronald Koll has commended the team of dedicated police officers for apprehending two suspects, a female (age 58) and a male (age 26) at 04:00 this morning, Friday, 15 March 2019. The breakthrough came after an intelligence driven operation was conducted in the informal settlement of Nomathamsanqa, Addo. Both suspects were arrested on charges ranging from housebreaking and theft and the possession of suspected stolen property after both their houses were searched this morning.
Detectives received valuable information yesterday, 14 March 2019 and a multidisciplinary team of police officers were set up. The team searched the residential homes of the suspects in the Addo area. Various electronical items allegedly belonging to residence in the Addo area were recovered during these searches. The South African Police Service in Addo call upon the community to visit or contact the Community Service Centre of SAPS Addo in order for detectives to trace the rightful owners. Complainants from burglary or theft cases are also requested to contact Detective Warrant Officer Riaan van Tonder on 082 441 7812 or SAPS Addo 042 2338803/04. Items confiscated range from TV sets, computers, binoculars, drills, wheat eaters, camera lenses, bench saws, cordless drills, jigsaws, small safe, camping stove, mountain bike, 48kg gas canister, compressor, playstations, Xboxes, notebook, power sanders, angle grinders, digital cameras, lawnmower, inverter, generator, DVD players and several cellphones. The value of the recovered items were estimated to be more than R100 000-00.
The two suspects are due to appear in the Kirkwood Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 March 2019 on charges ranging from housebreaking and theft and possession of suspected stolen goods. More charges might be added after investigations were concluded.
