PORT ELIZABETH - 2 TEENS HELD AFTER GUNNING DOWN PREGNANT WOMAN IN BLOEMENDAL

Two teenagers aged 16 and 17 years old were arrested yesterday afternoon by the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit (formerly known as the Gang Task Team).

It is alleged that on Tuesday, 18 October 2016 at about 20:20, Damian Erasmus (18) and a 24 year old female were shot at a house in Lingilhle Street Bloemendal.

According to police information, the 24 year old female who is pregnant entered the house through the back door. As she did so, four unknown men kicked the front door open and started firing shots into the house. Erasmus was fatally injured while the 24 year old female sustained gunshot wounds to her stomach. Two other people in the house escaped injury.  All four people resided at the house.

On 19 October 2016, information was followed up by the investigation unit and a 17 year old youth was arrested at a house in Guava Street in Jacksonville and the 16 year old was arrested at a house in Barberry Drive Ext 31 Bethelsdorp. Police also confiscated a white Toyota Tazz at an abandoned house in Wallflower Street Bethelsdorp.

The teenagers are detained on charges of murder and attempted and will appear at the Nerina House Juvenile court on Friday, 21 October 2016.   More arrests are expected.
