Rhodes University has confirmed that its examinations will go ahead as planned as #FeesMustFall protests continue to grip institutions of higher learning across the country.
In a statement released on the university’s Facebook page last night, it says the decision was taken in a meeting earlier this week.
The university has seen disruptions of classes over the past few weeks with at least 10 students arrested on Tuesday.
A timetable on Rhodes University’s website has the first exam paper scheduled for Monday at 8am.
The statement adds: “Adequate arrangements will be put in place to minimise the impact of any possible disruption of the examinations.”
Management has also insisted that students will be advised in time should changes to the form and venues of exams take place.
“Access to venues will be strictly controlled and only people eligible to take the examination will be allowed inside. This may mean that getting into a venue takes longer than normal. We ask you to bear with us while we check your personal details. Students are advised to arrive at venues in good time to allow these checks to be completed,” the statement continues.
