Political power in the Bitou Municipality could change following a recount of votes in one ward.
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) had to process about 1,000 ballots again from one voting district in Plettenberg Bay yesterday after the Democratic Alliance (DA) cried foul.
Coalition partners hope Bitou's post-election uncertainty will be put to rest when the results of the recount are verified.
The tallying process of some votes in the ANC-Active United Front led municipality was questioned after the DA flagged alleged discrepancies in the recording of ballots.
The AUF's Peter Lobese, however, believes the outcome will not be different.
"We are not worried about the recount and believe the results will be the same."
The DA fell just short of winning an outright majority with over 48 percent of the vote.
The party says it will evaluate its position after the recount.
