EASTERN CAPE - MATRIC 2015 DETAILS

Class of 2015: Eastern Cape lowest with 56.8% pass rate, 87 090 candidates.

Eastern Cape achieved 56.8 % dropping from 65.4% in 2014.

SOUTH AFRICA PASS RATES BY PROVINCE:
EC 56.8%, KZN, 60.7%, Limpopo 65.9% NC 69.4% MP 78.6% NW 81.5% FS 81.6% GP 84.2% WC 84.7%

Class of 2015: apart from the Western Cape, the other provinces recorded a slight to significant drop in pass rate.

In 2015 there were 3 711 more distinctions achieved by learners than in 2014. Minister Motshekga: The number of distinctions in 2015 were 63 348

The 2015 national matric pass rate is 70,7%, down 5,1 percentage points from 75,8% in 2014. This represents 455 825 candidates who have passed the 2015 NSC Exams

Overall there were 243 108 girls compared to 212 717 boys who obtained NSC passes.

90 027 girls compared to 76 236 boys obtained Bachelor passes during the 2015 NSC Examination.

For the past four years, the NSC pass rate has been above 70%

The number of learners passing Physical Science has increased from 103 348 in 2014 to 113 121 in 2015

The number of learners passing Mathematics has increased from 120 523 in 2014 to 129 481 in 2015
