The Department of Human Settlements says a total of R24 million has been paid to Nelson Mandela Bay housing contractors.
Department spokesperson, Xolani Xundu, says Friday's payment takes the total tally of outstanding payments made to contractors over the past two months to R57.4 million..
He says the balance of R9.5 million worth of invoices will be paid by this Friday.
Xundu says there is no contractor with a valid and verified invoice who will not be paid by this date.
He says two weeks ago Human Settlements Minister Lindiwe Sisulu made R100 million rand available to the Metro towards the payment of contractors.
