Another homeless man has been murdered in the East London CBD‚ bringing the number of vagrant killings in the area to seven.
The body of this man was discovered just after 7am on Thursday.
It is not clear how the man was murdered but he sustained severe injuries to the head.
East London police spokesman Warrant Officer Hazel Mqala said a case of murder was opened for investigation.
The man was estimated to be in his early 30s and was discovered by a passerby in Union Street.
Police were alerted and immediately responded to the scene. His body was not immediately covered‚ causing a large number of people to stop at the scene and watch as detectives combed the scene for clues.
No one has been arrested in connection with the murder.
Despite police sources close to the investigation claiming a serial killer was suspected‚ officially police say they can’t conclusively say this is the work of a serial killer.
