EASTERN CAPE - STING OPERATION LEADS TO CONFISCATION OF 19 VEHICLES IN QUEENSTOWN AREA

Nineteen different types of vehicles were confiscated and impounded at Queenstown Police Area for verification of registration documents and ownership today, 16 October 2019.

The vehicles were second hand sedans and bakkies displayed outside Queenstown as you drive out of the town to Whittlesea.

This confiscation is part of a covert operation where members had been working on intelligence driven information about illegal activities and sale of suspected stolen vehicles.

Preliminary investigations were conducted that confirmed police’s suspicion.

The two neighbouring clusters, Cradock and Queenstown combined resources and under the direction and leadership of Brigadier Madoda Zamkana, the Cradock cluster and Brigadier Pumla Mavuka, Queenstown cluster, the operation was elevated when nineteen (19) vehicles were confiscated and impounded.

The owners were invited to come and produce official papers in order to secure release of impounded vehicles.

Department of Home Affairs and Immigration was also invited to confirm papers and status of some of the foreign nationals who were near the scene.

Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Ntshinga commended the members from the two clusters for sharing resources and expertise resulting in the success achieved. "You must stamp your authority, work with integrity and resist all forms of bribe and corruption," warned Lt Gen Ntshinga.

The operation continued to raid scrap yards to check for compliance and illegal activities.
