SOUTH AFRICA - IT'S BUSINESS AS USUAL AT BANKS AFTER BANK PROTEST BROUGHT TO A HALT WITH COURT INTERDICT

Banks will operate normally on Friday.

That's according to the Banking Association of South Africa.

This amid threats of a shutdown by Cosatu and banking union, SASBO, in protest against retrenchments.

The labour court on Thursday granted an interdict against Friday’s planned bank protest.

Cosatu says it will appeal the ruling.

BASA has urged unions to call off the strike in view of the court order.

It's also urged customers to use digital banking services in case of unplanned or illegal disruptions.

BASA also called on law enforcement authorities to ensure the safety of customers and property in case the protest action goes ahead.
