Three men aged between 18 and 20 were arrested by Kwaaiman police after they allegedly robbed a spaza shop at Notintwa locality Ngcwanguba A/A in Mqanduli today at about 08h30. It is alleged that the suspects held a 45-year-old foreign national at gunpoint demanding money and a cellphone.

They fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and the victim's cellphone. Alarm was raised to police who made chase with the assistance of the community and the suspects were cornered at Notintwa forest. Two 9mm pistols with seven rounds of ammunition, all the stolen cash, airtime vouchers, cigarettes and a cellphone were recovered.

They will be caused to appear before Kwaaiman Periodical Court soon facing charges of business robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and unlawful possession of ammunition.

"We are after all those that are always terrorising our communities. We are doing whatever it takes to instil trust in our communities. Working together with our people can always assist in apprehending the perpetrators of crime within no time just like we did today." Said the Acting Cluster Commander Brigadier Mandlakhe Twala whilst applauding Kwaaiman community and police.
