PORT ELIZABETH - CONVICTED SUMMERSTRAND THIEF LINKED VIA DNA TO 7 OTHER CASES OF HOUSE ROBBERY


A prisoner currently serving a 2 year sentence at the North End Correctional facility has been linked to 7 other cases of house robbery, housebreaking and theft out of motor vehicle.

In April 2019, he was sentenced for possession of suspected stolen property. He was arrested in the Summerstrand area in 2018.

The 29-year-old suspect allegedly committed almost all of his crimes in the Summerstrand area. One house robbery was committed in Lorraine. The offences took place between 2013 and 2018.  The suspect was positively linked through DNA.

D/Sgt Ridwaan Baatjies of Cluster Trio Detective Task Team charged the suspect and he is  expected to  appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on Monday on charges of 5 house robberies, 1 housebreaking  and 1 theft out of motor vehicle.
