Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says, however when the 29-year-old appeared in court he was also charged with the murder of the 85-year-old Hazel Huggins who was found murdered in her retirement village in Summerstrand four years ago.

On the 28th of March 2014, Huggins' body was found tied up on her bedroom floor at her Kruger Gardens retirement village in Summerstrand.

At the time a reward was offered for information on Huggins' murder when the investigation ran cold.

The suspect will be back in court on the 31st of July.
