Willowvale police are investigating a murder case of a 79-year-old woman. The murder was committed on Friday, 10 May 2019 at about 19:00 at Lukhonza Locality, Mbhangcolo Village, Willowvale.
It is alleged that the deceased was staying with her 15-year-old granddaughter. On the evening in question, the granddaughter left the deceased alone to do school home work with her friends within the village. When she came back at about 19:00, she found the deceased fatally stabbed.
The deceased suffered upper body injuries seemingly stabbed with a knife. She cried very loud and the neighbours came.
The motive behind the murder is not known. No one has been arrested yet. Anyone who can assist the Willowvale police is kindly requested to contact them at 047 499 6234 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111. The information will be treated confidentially.
Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu condemned the murder of the defenceless elderly woman. He vowed that police will leave no stone unturned to bring the suspect/s to the book. The identity of the deceased will be withheld until her next of kin is officially informed of her murder.
