PORT ELIZABETH - HAWKS CONDUCT SEARCH & SEIZURE OPERATIONS ACROSS NELSON MANDELA BAY

The Hawks are continuing their search and seizure operations in Nelson Mandela Bay on Wednesday.

This was confirmed by Hawks national spokesperson, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, who said that operations began yesterday and will also continue on Thursday.

He declined to comment on reports that investigators had visited the offices of mayor Mongameli Bobani as well as his house, even though Bobani's lawyer, Danie Gouws spoke to the media about it.

"The operation is still ongoing.  We started yesterday where we visited different addresses in the PE area.

There are other places that we will be visiting as well.  So, based on that we are not at liberty to give detailed information on the suspects that were are pursuing and at the same time that information will only be divulged once we are done with the search and seizure operation".

"But, we can confirm that it is issues of corruption, theft and money laundering that are dealing with and that emanates from the Municipality.  Hopefully, we'll be able to finalise this very soon so that we can then be able to take this matter to court in consultation with the NPA.
