Concerted efforts by members of the South African Police Service to effectively address trio crimes in the Uitenhage Cluster paid off this morning, 24 March 2019, when alert Uitenhage K9 members spotted the silver Toyota Corolla that was allegedly taken in a house robbery earlier this morning and apprehended three male suspects in Gunguluza, Kwanobuhle.
It is alleged that the couple was asleep this morning, 24 March 2019, at their residence in Brand van Zyl Street, Uitenhage when they were awoken at 03:20 by three intruders who demanded cash and a firearm. The suspects were armed with knives and ransacked the home in search of the items. The husband got upset and argued with the suspects. One of the suspects stabbed the complainant in his stomach and shoulder. The suspects then demanded the keys of their vehicle and drove away with their silver Toyota Corolla, cellphones and laptop. The complainant alerted SAPS and he was taken for medical treatment. Uitenhage 10111 Centre members circulated the details of the stolen vehicle and alert Uitenhage K9 members spotted the vehicle, with three occupants, driving in Nqathana Street, Gunguluza (Kwanobuhle) at 05:05. K9 members immediately pulled the vehicle off the road and arrested the three males and recovered all the stolen property.
The three suspects (aged between 21 - 30) are due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrates Court in the course of this week on a charge of house robbery.
The acting Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ronald Koll commended the members from the Uitenhage K9 for their swift response and vigilance in ensuring that they bring those who break the law, to face the consequences.
