The Madibaz Varsity Shield rugby victory on Monday night was soured by the armed robbery of two staff members after the game at the Madibaz Stadium.
NMU confirmed in a brief statement that the staff members were robbed of an undisclosed amount of money after the match against Tshwane University of Technology.
The University says the affected staff members are receiving the necessary support.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, said two suspects approached the staff members after they got out of their car on the campus and demanded the money bag that they were carrying.
She said they then fled with the money bag, office keys and keys to the staff members' vehicle.
