On Saturday, 09th March, at 07h53, NSRI Jeffreys Bay launched the sea rescue craft Eddie Beaumont II to rendezvous with a Chokka fishing boat 2 nautical miles off-shore of Jeffreys Bay to patient evacuate a local adult male fisherman suffering dehydration.
NSRI had been called the night before by the fishing company requesting the patient transfer for the next morning.
Communications were assisted by Telkom Maritime Radio Services.
On arrival on the scene the patient was transferred onto our sea rescue craft and in the care of our NSRI medics he was brought to shore and an EC Government Health EMS ambulance has transported the man to hospital in a stable condition for further care.
