Police nabbed a man for possession of suspected stock theft or produce and recovered carcass meat of not less than six cattle.  Yesterday around 02:00, police were patrolling at Caylor Manor Road, Despatch, when they spotted a grey Opel Astra with a trailer driving with its headlights switched off and they pulled it off the road. The alert members noticed blood stains on the side of a trailer.

On questioning the driver about blood stains, he could not give a satisfactory answer and then requested to search the vehicle. Police recovered carcass meat of not less than six cattle and also seized weapons such as knives, pangas, which are believed to have been used in slaughtering the stock.

An eighteen-year-old man was arrested and is due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 18 April 2017, on charges of possession of suspected stolen stock or produce and with a possibility of additional charges at the later stage of the investigation.
