PORT ELIZABETH - CAR HIJACKED IN KWANOBUHLE LEADS TO HASTY ARREST IN KABEGA PARK WITHIN HOURS



Port Elizabeth police have arrested a car hijacking suspect who stole a lease car from its owner in Uitenhage early on Sunday morning.

Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, said "it is alleged that a house robbery took place at about 07:15 in Gqubutsha Street, Kwanobuhle this morning, Sunday, 23 April 2017."

"Two suspects entered the house after kicking the back door open.  The armed suspects demanded keys of vehicle and took cash and cellphones and fled. Police were notified," Swart said.

"PE police officials apprehended a suspect in the Kabega Park area and recovered the vehicle. The suspect was detained and will appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate's Court this week on a charge of house robbery," said Captain Swart.
