PORT ELIZABETH - TAVERN OWNER LEFT FOR DEAD AFTER BEING ABDUCTED & HELD FOR RANSOM

On 15 March 2017 at about 20:30 an abduction took place at Koyana Street, Kwazakele. A 48-year-old male, who is a Tavern owner in Motherwell and living in Zwide, was having a braai at a house in Koyana Street, when four males forced him into a red minibus and sped off.

By 21:00 a ransom amount was demanded from his wife by the suspects. She paid the money in at 09:00 this morning as instructed, but they then demanded more money.

She then went to the Kwazakele Police Station at 14:30 to report what had happened. By 16:15 the 48-year-old victim was found on the Perseverance Road, Perseverance, severely assaulted. He was taken to Uitenhage Provincial Hospital where he was admitted for medical treatment.

The SAPS wish to urge victims of similar abductions not to give in to ransom demands, but to contact the police immediately. Members of the public with any information can contact Detective Warrant Officer Mzwandile Javu at 041 408 7812.
