At least 350 undergraduate students at Rhodes University have opted to postpone their exams until January.
Students had until Friday to decide when they wished to write their papers now or next year.
University spokesperson Catherine Deiner says “The examinations started on Friday and two sessions of exams went ahead undisrupted.
“Examinations will continue tomorrow. This follows the university giving the students the choice to write their exams now in November or in January.”
University students across the country have been protesting for weeks and demanding free higher education, resulting in disruptions to lectures.
