Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of murder, after a four-month old baby girl was killed during an argument between a man and a woman in Greenbushes yesterday.Warrant Officer Alvin Labans says during the argument, the 21-year old man tried to stab the woman with a knife, and then grabbed the baby by the feet, and slammed her into the ground.
The child died at the scene.
Labans says the man then tried to slit his own throat and hang himself.
He says the man was taken to hospital in a stable condition, and will be charged with murder and attempted murder in due course.
