A MAN was killed and another wounded in the latest gang shooting in Port Elizabeth’s northern areas.
Carriston Solomons, 24, was killed and an 18-year-old wounded while walking in Fitchard Street, Helenvale, at about 7.30pm on Sunday.
Police spokeswoman Priscilla Naidu said the incident was believed to be gang-related.
“The men were approached by a lone gunman who had sneaked up behind them. The gunman opened fire and shot one of the men [Solomons] multiple times,” she said.
“The teenager was lying in the street and had been shot in the lower back.”
The gunman fled between the houses after the shooting.
Naidu said the teenager, who is not being named as he is a witness to the shooting, was taken to a Port Elizabeth hospital for treatment.
