On Thursday evening, a strong cold front will make landfall over the south-western coast bringing cooler weather and light rain for the peninsula. Into Friday the cold front will spread rain showers and cold & cloudy weather into the Western and Eastern Cape.
On Friday, the winds and the cold front will strengthen, bringing the possibility of snow from the afternoon through to Saturday.
Sweeping across the mountain ranges of South Africa, snow will be possible from Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape, through Hogsback and the Witteberge in Eastern Cape, going all the way into the Drakensberg range and across the mountains of Lesotho.
A watch for heavy rain has been issued, mainly over the mountainous areas of the Cape Metropole, Overberg and the western parts of the Cape Winelands for Thursday evening overnight into Friday.
