Eastern Province Rugby has been provisionally liquidated‚ under an order by the Port Elizabeth High Court on Thursday morning.
This comes after 36 EP Kings players took the beleaguered franchise to court after they claimed millions of rands in unpaid salaries.
EP was given until 10 May to settle these debts or could face the order being made final.
Disgruntled clubs handed in five signed letters at EP Rugby's headquarters at Imatu House on Wednesday last week, calling for a special general meeting at which a vote of no confidence will be tabled against president Cheeky Watson.
