GELVANDALE - PASTOR ACCUSED OF RAPING 15 YEAR OLD GIRL HAD CASE PROVISIONALLY WITHDRAWN

The case against a pastor from Gelvandale in Port Elizabeth, who was accused of raping a 15-year-old girl was provisionally withdrawn in the city’s magistrates court on Monday.

The State indicated that it was not ready to proceed with trial due to a lack of evidence which related to photos the pastor had allegedly sent the young girl.

According to earlier reports, the pastor and the minor child allegedly had a sexual relationship.

The State alleged that during September 2012 the pastor committed an act of sexual penetration with the consent of the minor child.

The State further alleged that the pastor exposed or displayed images or a depiction of pornography, namely photos of private parts and people in sexual positions without the consent of the minor.

Charges of rape and the display of pornography to children were provisionally withdrawn on Monday.

Meanwhile, the child’s father was angered by the outcome and said that he would go back to the police and ask them to look for the evidence.

He said that he would not let the matter go as his daughter had been negatively affected.

He swore to seek assistance from authorities in an attempt to get the case re-opened.
