PORT ELIZABETH - SCHOOLGIRL DIES AFTER HIT & RUN ACCIDENT IN HUMEWOOD

A Port Elizabeth teenager who was severely injured in a hit-and-run accident in Port Elizabeth on Friday night, has died in hospital.

This was confirmed by police late Monday afternoon.

Sixteen-year-old Jaydene Lucas, was placed on life-support following the horrific accident at an intersection in Humewood, Port Elizabeth, early Friday night.

A friend, Lorren Abrahams, was also seriously injured when SAB employee, William Taute, allegedly failed to stop at an intersection and hit the girls as they were crossing the road.

He was arrested about two kilometres away after allegedly fleeing the crash scene.

Taute made a brief appearance in court on Monday where his case was postponed to Tuesday.

He remains in custody.

Charges against will now include one of culpable homicide.
