PORT ELIZABETH - POLICE MAKE 37 ARRESTS ACROSS PE LAST NIGHT TO THIS MORNING

Detectives in the Mount Road policing cluster worked from last night into the early hours of this morning, 23 December 2015, arresting wanted suspects .Investigators from seven stations (Algoa Park, Gelvendale, Kabega Park, Walmer, Mount Road, Humewood and Bethelsdorp)  arrested 37 suspects on various crimes. Suspects were arrested for Housebreaking and theft , Dealing in drugs, Shoplifting, Possession of drugs, assault and Assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. Some of the suspects were traced to St Albans Correctional Service where they are detained for other crimes.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear in court soon.

The  number of successful arrests and police operations is an indication to the community and a warning to the criminals that the police have not taken a break over the festive season. Our members have intensified measures of fighting crime to ensure a safer festive season for everyone. Police clampdown on criminal activities will continue throughout this festive period and beyond.

 The festive season is a period of relaxation and goodwill however the SAPS urges  communities to be responsible during this time and together we can do more to ensure a safe festive season.
