KWANOBUHLE - 3 ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED HIJACKING AND RAPE

Three men were arrested after they allegedly hijacked a vehicle in KwaNobuhle this morning.

The arrest came after the hijacked vehicle, with four suspects inside, overturned during a police chase in San Souci Road, Despatch.

The four suspects hijacked a black VW Polo at the Fan Park in Mqolomba Road, KwaNobuhle with a male and a female passenger inside.

It is alleged that the four suspects accosted the couple, tied them up with a rope and one of the suspects raped the woman.

The two victims were then thrown into an empty dam, while the suspects fled with a car and the victims’ cellphones.

The male victim managed to get himself loose and alerted the police.

A second suspect was still inside and a third one was arrested in the nearby bushes while trying to flee on foot.

One suspect is still at large, and the police are expecting an imminent arrest.

The three suspects aged between 18 and 31 will appear in KwaNobuhle Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, facing charges of carjacking and rape.
